411 Elm St. The former Texas School Book Depository where Lee Harvey Oswald fired at JFK. Adults $21, children $17. Dealey Plaza outside is free. One of the most sobering museum experiences in the US.

8525 Garland Rd, White Rock Lake. 66 acres on the lake. Adults ~$20, children ~$15. Best in spring; still beautiful in June. Pecan Grove and the Rory Meyers Children's Adventure Garden.

1717 N Harwood St. Free permanent collection — one of the largest free art museums in the US. Impressionists, ancient Mediterranean, and a strong pre-Columbian collection. Arts District — pair with Nasher Sculpture Center.
