FIFPRO Extreme Heat Warning
Dallas Has Been Flagged as an Extreme Heat Risk

FIFPRO (the international professional players' union) and Scientific American issued formal heat warnings for Dallas specifically. Outdoor temperatures routinely exceed 38–40°C (100–104°F) in June–July. The US CDC lists heat stroke as the leading cause of weather-related death in the US.

FIFA Mitigations in Place
Sealed bottled water (up to 500ml) permitted through stadium security. Misting systems at all fan zones. Air-conditioned cooling buses on standby outside stadiums. Gates open 2.5 hours early so you can clear security before peak heat.
Warning Signs
Heat exhaustion: heavy sweating, dizziness, nausea, pale skin. Heat stroke (emergency): no sweating, confusion, hot red skin, temperature above 40°C — call 911 immediately. Move to shade and apply cold water to neck, armpits, and groin.
Protect Yourself
Hydrate the night before. Drink 500ml water before leaving your hotel. Bring a refillable bottle (empty bottles allowed through stadium security). Wear light-coloured loose clothing and a hat. SPF 50+ sunscreen. Avoid alcohol before/during the match — it accelerates dehydration significantly.
Get Travel Insurance
A single US emergency room visit averages $2,600–$3,000 with no insurance. Ambulance transport adds $1,000–$2,500. The US State Dept specifically recommends medical evacuation insurance for international visitors. Get EKTA travel insurance ↗

Stadium Weather Tips

🏟️
Dallas Stadium
The stadium has a retractable roof and full climate control — inside it's always comfortable regardless of outside conditions. Dress for 70°F (21°C) inside.
🚶
Getting to the Stadium
The walk from CentrePort to the shuttle, and the outdoor approach to gates, is exposed. In June–July this is brutal in the heat. Wear light clothing and bring water.
Thunderstorms
Dallas gets fast-moving afternoon thunderstorms in summer. They usually pass in 30–45 min. The stadium roof closes immediately for lightning. Keep an eye on the radar.

Hydration
In 100°F+ heat you can lose a litre of water per hour outdoors. Drink before you feel thirsty. Empty refillable bottles are allowed through stadium security.
