City Hall → DUMBO, Brooklyn. Free. 1.1-mile pedestrian walkway — 30–40 minutes one way. Best in the morning before tourist crowds. Walk to DUMBO for coffee and Manhattan Bridge photos from Washington St.

Gansevoort St to 34th St, West Side. Free elevated park on a decommissioned rail line — 1.45 miles, public art, Hudson River views. Best on a weekday morning. Connects Hudson Yards to the Meatpacking District.

Bleecker, Christopher, and Hudson Sts. Free. NYU campus, Washington Square Park (free concerts weekends), and the best independent restaurants in Manhattan. Walk to the High Line from here.

10th Ave gallery corridor + High Line above. Galleries free on Thursdays. 200+ art galleries, the Whitney Museum (adults $25), and the High Line park are all within a 6-block walk.

125th St corridor. Free. Apollo Theater exterior (tours available), Sylvia's soul food, Studio Museum in Harlem (free on Sundays), and Marcus Garvey Park. A neighbourhood most tourists miss entirely.

Free. Departs Whitehall Terminal every 30 minutes. 25-minute each way — passes within a quarter mile of the Statue of Liberty. Best views from the upper deck right side heading to Staten Island.

Free. Enter at 72nd St & Central Park West. Strawberry Fields → Bethesda Fountain → the Lake. Go before 9am to avoid crowds.
