Where to Stay
🏨 Where to Stay in Toronto
Toronto's best stays cluster in Downtown / Financial District (max convenience to BMO Field via Union Station + GO Transit), King West / Entertainment District (bars, restaurants, walkable to BMO), Yorkville (luxury), The Annex (charm, near U of T), and Liberty Village (stadium-side, modern condos). The city is large but transit-connected — most neighborhoods are 10-20 min by TTC. Canada's home opener (Jun 12) is the highest-demand night; book by Mar 2026 if not already.
By Neighborhood
The Best Areas
Toronto neighborhoods are well-connected by TTC subway and streetcar. Stadium access via GO Transit Lakeshore West from Union Station is excellent — anywhere within a 15-min subway ride of Union puts you 20-25 min from BMO Field.
Hotel prices have dropped significantly — it's not too late to book (May 2026): Despite early fears of price-gouging, hotel demand for the World Cup has tracked well below initial forecasts across most host cities. The American Hotel & Lodging Association reports 80% of US host city hoteliers are seeing below-expected bookings, with rates down as much as 40% from their late-2025 peaks. Most US host cities still have strong availability as of May 2026. Toronto offers some of the best-value accommodation in the entire tournament, with solid budget options from $30–$80/night — making it one of the most affordable host cities for international fans.
Top Pick · Best for First-Timers
Downtown / Financial District
Skyscrapers + Union Station + GO Transit hub + max walkability
The financial heart of Canada — Bay Street, Union Station, the CN Tower, Rogers Centre, Scotiabank Arena, the PATH (29 km of underground walkways). Stay here for max transit convenience: Union Station connects subway, GO Transit (5 min to BMO Field), VIA Rail, UP Express to Pearson. Hotel-dense; chain heavy. Hotels: Fairmont Royal York ($$$$, the iconic 1929 chateau), Shangri-La Toronto ($$$$), Hilton Toronto ($$$), Hyatt Regency Toronto ($$$). Airbnb: $120-300 CAD/night for 1BR.
Best for Vibes
King West / Entertainment District
Restaurants, walkable to BMO Field, entertainment strip
Toronto's densest concentration of restaurants and entertainment venues — King Street West (King and Spadina to Bathurst). Closer to BMO Field than downtown (3 km, walkable in 35 min). The Drake Hotel ($$$, design boutique), Hotel Ocho ($$, hipster Queen West), Thompson Toronto ($$$, rooftop). Great pre-match base. Airbnb: $150-250 CAD/night.
Best for Luxury
Yorkville
Toronto's Mayfair — luxury hotels, designer shops, fine dining
Toronto's wealthiest neighborhood — Bloor-Yorkville is the city's Bond Street, with Holt Renfrew, Hermès, Chanel, and Toronto's flagship Michelin-tier restaurants (Alo, Edulis, Aloette). Hotels: Four Seasons Hotel Toronto ($$$$), Park Hyatt ($$$$), Windsor Arms ($$$), Hazelton ($$$$). Airbnb: $200-450 CAD/night. Yonge subway line (Line 1) direct to Union ~15 min.
Best for Charm
The Annex
Victorian houses, U of T campus, indie bookshops
Tree-lined Victorian-era streets near the University of Toronto campus. Bloor Street West for indie restaurants, vintage shops, the legendary Honest Ed's ghost. Boutique hotels and B&Bs in heritage houses. Slightly cheaper than Yorkville. Subway Line 2 connects east-west. Hotels: Annex Hotel ($$$, design boutique), various B&Bs ($$). Airbnb: $100-200 CAD/night.
Best for Stadium-Side
Liberty Village
Modern condo district + tech offices + stadium-adjacent
A reclaimed-industrial neighborhood west of King West, known for new-build condo towers, tech offices (Google's Toronto HQ), and craft restaurants. Walking distance to BMO Field (15-20 min). Modern Airbnb-heavy stays in apartment-style condos; limited boutique hotels in the immediate area (downtown chains like Holiday Inn Express are clustered around Old Town / Yonge, not Liberty Village). Airbnb: $120-220 CAD/night for 1BR condos.
Best for Diaspora Hubs
Greektown / Little Italy / Koreatown
Polyethnic neighborhoods with own match-watch culture
For fans of countries with strong Toronto diaspora communities, consider staying in their cultural hub. Greektown (Danforth) for Greek crowds, Little Italy (College Street) for Italian/Brazilian/Argentine, Koreatown (Bloor & Christie) for Korean. Mostly Airbnb stays; few hotels. Direct subway connections to Union. Airbnb: $100-180 CAD/night.
